JogMog Privacy Policy

JogMog is a running pet: a creature ("mog") that you keep alive by running. We collect as little as possible, there are no ads, no third-party trackers, and we never sell your data. There is no login — your account is an anonymous random ID generated on your device.
What we store on our servers
To make the social features work, the following is sent to our backend (a Cloudflare Worker) and tied to your anonymous device ID:
- Your public username (a handle you choose). Your real name, if you ever enter one, stays on your device and is never sent.
- Your current mog — its name and appearance.
- Run-derived metrics — a run's distance/duration become your leaderboard times, and your lifetime totals (distance, runs, kept weeks) appear on your public profile.
- Game/social activity — duel results, kill count, chat and direct messages, your friends list, and a per-month leaderboard placement.
- Your approximate area — a coarse ~20-mile grid cell, used only to place you in the right local chat and leaderboard. Your precise GPS location is never sent.
- A DM on/off preference.
Health & fitness data
JogMog reads your finished workouts from Apple Health (with your permission) to know when you've run. The raw workout data is processed on your device into simple run records (date, distance, duration). JogMog never writes to Apple Health. The derived metrics above are then used as described to power leaderboards and your profile.
Optional cloud backup
If you turn on cloud backup, your full local game state, including your run history, is stored on our servers under a private recovery code so you can restore it on a new phone. Backup is off by default; you choose to enable it.
Direct messages & chat
Messages you send are stored so they can be delivered. Chat and DMs are filtered for slurs and you can report or block any user. We retain messages only as long as needed to operate the feature.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete everything at any time: Settings → Account → Delete my account & data. This erases your data on this device and on our servers (profile, chat, DMs, duels, scores, kills, friends, and any cloud backup).
Children
JogMog is not directed at children and is rated 17+ due to unmoderated-style user chat.
